When do I pay stamp duty?
Your solicitor pays it for you within 14 days of completion. You need to have the money ready before then.
Who counts as a first-time buyer?
Someone who has never owned a home in the UK or anywhere else. If you are buying with someone who has owned before, you do not get the relief.
Why do second homes pay more?
If you will own more than one home after buying, you pay an extra 5 percent on top of the normal rates.
